Baptism & Confirmation
Baptism marks our first step on the lifelong pilgrimage of faith. It begins within us the life of grace, and initiates us into fullness of life in Christ.
You can be baptized at any stage of life – as a child or in later years as an adult. In Baptism our sins are washed away. We become one with Christ and receive new birth through water and the action of God’s Holy Spirit.
In Confirmation the gifts of the Spirit given to us by God are stirred up afresh and redoubled by the laying on of hands by a bishop. Candidates for Confirmation publically profess their faith, and are fully initiated as members of Christ’s church, able to receive Holy Communion.
It also happens that people who were baptised and confirmed many years ago return to their faith, or find they want to profess it publicly for themselves again. In this circumstance, candidates can receive catechesis in preparation for a liturgy involving the renewal of the promises made at their baptism, and thanksgiving for the graces they have received from God.
Whatever stage people are at on their pilgrimage of faith, All Souls’ wants to be a help and blessing to all who seek Christ and want to be his disciples. Please be in touch with the clergy if you would like to explore more about the possibility of being baptized and/or confirmed yourself, or want to discuss having your child baptized or confirmed.

Holy Matrimony, Weddings & Blessings
Holy Matrimony is a time for celebration and festivity but also for contemplation and reflection on commitment, faithfulness and loyalty.
Weddings are the joyful celebration of the beginning of a new life together for the couple getting married. In a wedding, bride and groom give each other their consent, make solemn vows to one another, and have their union blessed in the presence of God.
Weddings are celebrated and marriages blessed at All Souls' for those who meet the legal qualifications for marriage in the Church of England.
If you would like to know more about how you could celebrate this Sacrament at All Saints, please be in touch with the clergy of All Souls’ by email or telephone, or after Sunday Mass to arrange an appointment to dicuss further.

Funerals
When someone dies, the funeral is our most important opportunity to bid them farewell, give thanks for their life, and pray for their soul.
Christians bury their dead in the sure and certain hope of resurrection. On the Last Day, we will be resurrected in our bodies, and the whole of creation will be renewed as God reigns in judgement over all he has created.
A funeral is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived, commend the person into God’s keeping, and to ensure their loved one’s mortal remains are buried or cremated.
Funerals can be small and intimate, or larger occasions, and our Church can easily accomodate either.
Several options exist for funeral liturgies at All Souls’. The simplest form of service is a said Mass of Requiem with no music.
It is also possible to have a funeral service with congregational hymns and music accompanied either on the organ, or fitting to the occassion.
Please be in touch with the clergy if you have any questions about funerals or are trying to organise the funeral rites of a loved one.
If you are considering the arrangements for your own funeral, please make contact with any of the clergy at All Souls’, so that your intentions can be written down and kept safe, so that your wish as a member of the Christian Community of Faith may be respected.

Confession, Spiritual Direction & Healing
Have you ever wanted to know for sure that you were forgiven for a stupid or unkind thing that you’ve done, which still nags at your conscience? Have you ever wanted to discuss the recurring problems of the spiritual life with a priest? Have you ever wanted to have a companion or guide to help you deal with the ups and downs of being a Christian and battling against sin?
The sacrament of Confession is given to us as a remedy for all these concerns.
When we make a confession to a priest, we tell him the things we have done wrong. We are given advice and counsel, and the priest then pronounces absolution. Absolution is when a priest declares we are forgiven our sins in the name of Jesus himself. Absolution lets us know for sure that that those things on our conscience are put away for ever, and that God forgives us.
It is clear from the New Testament this practice took place in apostolic times, and many find it today a freeing gift and wonderful source of strength.
Whilst we no longer have Confessionals at All Souls' as part of our Anglo Catholic tradition, our Clergy can still offer Confession or provide Spirital Direction by arangement.
People often turned to Jesus for healing sometimes for themselves and sometimes for others. Jesus brought healing and peace by his words and by his touch.
All Souls' has a tradition of offering 'Healing' once a month within our Solemn Mass, following Communion in the Lady Chapel. For those who wish to partake, prayers are said for healing, and those seeking healing may be anointed with Holy Oil.
