Remembrance Sunday
Sunday 8th November 2020
With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.
Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres.
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.
But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;
As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain,
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Advent & Christmas 2019
Preparation for the All Souls Festival of Christmas Trees got underway during the first weeks of Advent as the tower lights got turned on as a symbol of our presence in our community, and star that leads us through to Candlemas was placed high above the altar.
Trees were placed beside the altar, crib under the nave altar and trees placed on the window ledges of the side aisles to allow local Schools and Community Groups to come into the Church and decorate.
The trees were judged by local Councillors Abigail Marshall-Katung, Kayleigh Brooks, Javaid Akhtar when they attended the Church with Mother Helen.
The Carols by Candlelight had to be hastily rescheduled due to the Church being used as a Polling Station for the snap election and consequently had only a small attendance, albeit with lusty singing.
The Service of Lessons and Carols was followed by our new initiative to allow everyone to be able to partake in the Church Christmas Lunch, a bring and share Lunch in the beautiful seasonally decorated Undercroft.

Patronal Festival & Feast of Title - All Souls
11am - Sunday 3rd November 2019
A lovely service remembering those Souls faithful departed from our congregation and in memory of those Souls close to the hearts and in the minds of our current congregation.
During the service we dedicated the new easel, donated by two of our DCC members, which holds ‘Christ in Leeds’ by K Senior in memory of M & J.

New Vestments
Thanks to two anonymous donors we have been fortunate to purchase the last remaining vestment for our ordinary time altar serving party.
Sad News
Our Deacon Rev Warwick has decided to leave All Souls and his last service was marked on Sunday 28th April where he preached the sermon and informed his friends of his departure.
Rev Warwick will be sadly missed as he led the Church community between Mother Alices departure and Mother Helens arrival. During his time at All Souls Rev Warwick instigated the outreach into the community with the Community Garden, Soup Kitchen and the All Souls Counselling Service.
We wish Rev Warwick all the best and and hope he will return and visit us regularly.

Advent & Christmas Day 2018
Remembrance Day - November 11th 2018
“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving , and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” Psalm 100:4
Thanks to the hard work or our Church Warden - Andrew Downs, the outside of our building has received a renewed lease of life with the neglected paintwork being spruced up to coordinate with our new noticeboard.
Hopefully this goes some way to ending the community perception that our building is closed, bringing visitors to a building that reflects our love and care and the beauty that lies inside our doors, as well as being a symbol of strength and Gods presence within the local community.

26/03/17 - Mothering Sunday
08/02/17 - Mission Meeting
We welcomed a good number of mothers to our Mass who were sung to by the children within our congregation, before being presented with some daffodils. As usual the children participated with gusto, spurred on in their singing by Francis.
The Church Council met with our congregation to have an open discussion about the vision and mission of All Souls. We shared lunch together as part of our Fellowship and spent time on six topics led by a various people.
01/02/17 - Ash Wednesday
28/02/17 - Shrove Tuesday
Shrove Tuesday saw the start of our Food for those in Need Project, a fitting date for remembering those who have fast on a daily basis as we enter Lent. We hope the Project will take off over the coming weeks and the Church Council are appreciative that so many members of the congregation at All Souls have supported this initiative, either on the night or those who have worked hard behind the scenes to try and ensure this project could get off the ground. |

29/12/17 - Confirmation - 11am
We were blessed to be joined by a large congregation on this special day for Rhiannon, the Horsman family and our Church community. Rhiannon was confirmed into the Church along with several of our friends from Saint Martins, one who was baptised as well.
The Rt Revd Nick Baines, Bishop of Leeds, officiated alongside Father Nicholas. Bishop Nick gave an excellent sermon on the Wedding feast, full of anecdotes to illustrate and his usual humour.

Its all change at All Souls as say goodbye to our outgoing Churchwardens Michael and Monica and welcome our new Churchwardens Canon Ann and Dave.
We thank Michael and Monica for all their efforts over the last 6 years and taking All Souls through some major changes. We hope that All Souls will continue to grow during the coming year and radiate our presence into our local community of Little London. |

With Advent III being our Carol Service at All Souls, we have been getting some festive cheer and the decorating brings more light into the Church as we step closer to Christmas Day.
10/12/16 - Yorkshire College of Music Christmas Concert
We welcomed the Yorkshire College of Music to All Souls as part of our outreach to share our beautiful Church with local groups and organisations.

20/11/16 - Feast of Christ the King
Father Nicholas celebrated Mass with us today for The Feast of Christ the King. He sprung upon us his desire to conclude the service with Benediction and a procession around the Church. This was a welcome return to a time long gone for the Church of All Souls and we are fortunate to have Father Nicholas share his style of worship and deep spirituality with us, leading the Church in the style of forebears.
13/11/16 - Remembrance Sunday
At the going down of the sun, we will remember them
We were fortunate to be greeted by the sun whilst we gathered at the War Memorial to remember those who lost their lives, those who fought through wind, rain and snow in conditions unimaginable, in order to protect our liberty and ensure the freedom that we take for granted today.
Keith read the names of those who died in our Parish and Andrew sang a moving rendition of a Rememberance Sunday anthem by Aston, 'So they gave their bodies'.

30/10/16 - Feast of Title - All Souls
We celebrated our Feast of Title with a special celebratory Mass at the High Altar, well that was the plan! In true All Souls style the lack of a priest did not deter the congregation that had gathered and we celebrated with a service of Morning Prayer led by our Deacon Rev Warwick with some rousing hymns led by Keith specially selected for the celebration.
Rev Warwick spoke to us about the hymn that we had just sung, We love this place O Lord, and the significance of the verses of the hymn to the part of our Church which had diligently been cleaned the previous day and was gleaming. He also highlighted the place of the newly formed counselling service and its significance in supporting those with troubled souls. |

23/10/16 - Bible Sunday
Rev Warwick challenged the children to build a wall with a hole in it and our Treasurer Dave spoke about his own personal experiences.
02/10/16 - Harvest Festival - 10 am - Saint Martins, Potternewton
Besides Nicholas's induction, this will be the first joint service with Saint Martins as we move towards joining formally with them as a United Benefice. We hope to see you at Saint Martins to celebrate the gathering in of this years harvest and for God bestowing his gifts upon us.
24/09/16 - New notice board
After a long year of planning we are ready to apply for our faculty for the new notice board. This will be an important moment for our Church as the old board makes the building looking abandoned and does little for our kerb appeal and enticing new people into our Church.
